Gilbert Police Say Investigation Spanned 30 Incidents Across Multiple Valley Cities

A Valley man is facing a long list of charges after a four-month investigation by the Gilbert Police Department into alleged organized retail theft across the Phoenix metro area.

According to Gilbert PD, investigators received information between January 2026 and April 2026 related to ongoing organized retail theft allegedly involving the same offender, identified as 42-year-old Aaron Amendolara.

Police say the investigation included incidents across multiple Valley cities, including Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Phoenix, Chandler, and Scottsdale.

Police Say Losses Totaled More Than $12,000

The allegations include Amendolara allegedly stealing merchandise from various home improvement stores across the Valley, with reported losses totaling more than $12,000.

Gilbert Police say their Property Crimes Unit detectives investigated the incidents and served a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of evidence believed to support the case.

34 Charges Filed

Amendolara was arrested on May 6, 2026 and booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Gilbert PD, the listed charges include:

  • Organized Retail Theft — 28 counts
  • Trafficking Stolen Property — 3 counts
  • Fraudulent Schemes — 2 counts
  • Shoplifting — 1 count

Case Still Moving Forward

Gilbert Police recognized their detectives for their work on the investigation as the case continues through the legal process.
