Hello Kitty has appeared in countless styles over the years, but this version carries a completely different attitude. The familiar Sanrio icon is presented in an urban green camouflage outfit, oversized footwear and a relaxed pose with her hands tucked into the front of her clothing.
That streetwear-inspired body language immediately connects the piece to the visual world of Filipino designer toy artist Quiccs Maiquez. Quiccs is also the creator of TEQ63, his signature helmeted character known for combining graffiti culture, hip-hop influence and Japanese robotic aesthetics.
This Hello Kitty is not simply dressed in camouflage. She carries the same confident, hands-in-the-hoodie attitude that helped make the Quiccs design language recognizable throughout the international art-toy community.
The history behind the Crystal Green Camo edition is an important part of its collector appeal. The foundation began with Quiccs, Kidrobot and Hello Kitty by Sanrio.
Sanrio supplied one of the most recognizable characters in global pop culture. Kidrobot, a major name in designer vinyl and collectible art toys, produced the original Hello Kitty Art Figure designed by Quiccs. The artist then transformed Hello Kitty through his own streetwear, graffiti and futuristic visual language.
IAmRetro later took its exclusive Green Camo variation into luxury-art territory, recreating it as an extremely limited crystal edition embellished with Swarovski® crystals.
The defining feature of this edition is its crystal work. Each figure contains 1,940 Swarovski® crystals that were hand applied individually rather than added through a simple printed, molded or machine-created surface treatment.
The crystal palette includes Crystal Clear, Golden Shadow, Citrine, Citrine Shimmer, Olivine, Black Diamond, Iridescent Green and Jet. Together, the shades reinforce the camouflage colorway while adding different levels of reflection, depth and contrast across the figure.
Clear crystals outline the ears, footwear and accessories. Dark stones give the bow and facial details a dramatic finish, while gold and green tones bring the camouflage outfit to life. Even the pacifier is transformed into a crystal-covered centerpiece.
Because thousands of crystals were positioned by hand, the piece sits somewhere between a designer vinyl figure, wearable-jewelry craftsmanship and a display-ready work of pop art.
The green camouflage design keeps the figure connected to Quiccs’ military, robotic and street-culture influences. Olive and black tones give the piece a tougher appearance than the traditional pink, red and pastel colors often associated with Hello Kitty.
